Chefs grown straight from our garden

After a second glance we realised it was Chefs' Rafal Majchrzak (pictured left) and Arindam Mondal (pictured right) harvesting the first crop of courgettes last friday from our garden which went on the Saturday menu. Arindam has been working with us for 5 weeks and Raf has been with us for 5 years. Both chefs are passionate about local produce and use their expertise to produce creative dishes. General Manager and experienced gardener, Robert Hughes, has been overseeing the whole garden project since it started three months ago which has enjoyed excellent weather in its debut year

Our fine four fendered friends

It is always nice to be kept in touch by our motoring friends. One of our motoring events at The Metropole late last year was Fraser Nash Car Club and very active socially and on the competitive scene. Many thanks to David Leigh providing us the caption for this photo “James Trigwell presents the Stanley Cup to the winning 319 BMW team fuehrer Mark Garfitt before whipping it back again and into the Frazer Nash archives!!” Not everyone has four fenders; other recent motoring events have been the Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists, Hadrian Tours (Harley Davidson), SW Region Institute Advanced Motorcyclists, Riders Edge (Harley Davidson), Bournemouth and Wessex Advanced Motorcyclists and The Taffmog Wicked Welsh Weekend.

Waiting for your bed to be made, literally...

As well as sourcing local food produce, we champion local businesses that can provide quality products. The Four Poster Bed company at Kington is currently crafting two four poster beds in their workshop. The bespoke Contemporary Tapered Four Poster Bed and the Twisted Pencil Post Bed will each sit beautifully in two of our luxury suites. Once the canopy, caps and posts have been carpentered, they will be added to the frames and delivered in the next week. This coincides with current redevelopment of bedrooms with new bathrooms being introduced, new furnishings and even the occasional wall being knocked down to extend bedroom space.

How many people does it take to build a greenhouse?

Joking aside, greenhouse construction is not our forte, hospitality is. That is why we discuss monthly any future changing issues. Environmental policies are one of the key factors. We started this year with the installation of a new state-of-the-art bedroom heating system to give better efficiency and control to our customers. One of our latest projects is our garden. A variety of herbs, fruits and vegetables will be grown to feature on head chef's future menus. We will keep you up to date with how the garden has progressed in the future.
